Cold Storage Is Unforgiving
A refrigerated space punishes every weakness in the envelope.
Thermal bridges show up as frost lines. Air paths let humid outside air in, where it condenses or freezes inside the assembly. Both make the plant work harder and both get worse over time.
Closed-cell foam is continuous and adhered, so there are no gaps and no cavity. It handles the vapor drive from warm outside to cold inside, which is constant and one-directional in a cold room.
Its R-value per inch is the highest of the practical options, which matters when internal dimensions are fixed and every inch of wall thickness costs you storage volume.
Packing, Grading And Handling Areas
These spaces often sit between temperatures — cooler than outside in summer, warmer in winter, and washed down regularly.
They also tend to have been added to over the years, which means mixed construction and a lot of junctions where things were joined imperfectly.
Foam is good at exactly that, because it seals junctions between different assemblies without needing a detail drawn for each one.
Food handling areas have their own covering and finish requirements, and we work to whatever your operation is inspected against.
Warehouses, Workshops And Light Manufacturing
Large volumes drive heating cost the most, and roof deck work usually gives the best return there.
We also insulate mechanical and boiler rooms, both to contain heat and to keep noise and temperature out of adjoining space.
Loading areas and docks need attention too, since the envelope is broken by doors that open constantly and sealing the rest becomes more important.
Offices built inside a larger shell often need heating to a completely different standard than the space around them.
Working Around Your Operation
We phase the work. Sections get prepared, sprayed and returned to use while the next section is set up, so the building keeps running.
Nights, weekends and shutdown windows work well for us, and so does coordinating with your other trades so nobody is spraying while somebody else is running conduit.
Re-entry periods have to be built into the schedule, and we plan them explicitly rather than hoping they fit.
